Growing Sempervivum

Sempervivum, also known as common houseleeks or hens & chicks, are perfect for rockeries or can simply be planted in a trough or pot. Even old boots, baskets etc work well or get the kids involved with decorating a fun container. They quickly spread to create a blanket of stunning, fleshy rosette shaped flowers. .

We simply drilled a few holes in the bottom of a terracotta plant pot saucer, added a layer of fine shingle for drainage then planted our selection of sempervivum into into good quality free draining compost. They like the sun but

appreciate some shade at the hottest part

of the day. Water sparingly then sit back and enjoy.
